The offered original news service photograph depicts fence-clearing legend Babe Ruth in military attire. Enlisted to help protect his country (rather than the strike zone), Ruth is shown in the crisp central image as he exchanges salutes with General John J. Pershing. The sepia-toned photo was taken in Washington, D.C. and dates to May 1924, shortly after Ruth enlisted in the New York National Guard. The item exhibits (EX) quality with small tears and creases along the upper and right borders. On the reverse, a HENRY MILLER stamping is accompanied by the original adhered caption sheet.
