As the only turn-of-the-century baseball tobacco set released by our northern neighbors, the 1912 C46 Imperial Tobacco edition is also noted as one of the most attractive. These cards, hallmarked by distinctive woodgrain borders and attractive portraits set against a baseball equipment theme, represent the players from the old Eastern League. A mixed-grade selection, several players with major league experience make an appearance including a controversial figure in #65 Gandil (VG-EX), an inspirational figure #41 Taylor (VG-EX) and a pair of Hall of Famers with #27 Kelly (PR) and #77 McGinnity (GD). The condition breakdown for this condition sensitive set is 12% (EX), 8% (VG-EX), 30% (VG), 11% (GD) and 39% (FR or lesser). Although (28) cards exist that display either reverse writing, paper loss or are lightly trimmed, the preponderance of cards retain a sterling visual appeal.
