Painstakingly crafted to the last detail, the offered pair of “Skookum” dolls celebrate native American heritage. Named for the Chinook/Siwash term for “excellent,” these particular collectibles depict an Indian chief and squaw, the former figure standing 17 inches tall with his counterpart measuring 15 inches. Of the post “apple head” variety, these examples feature composition heads with the trademark directionally glancing eyes. Of note are the left-glancing squaw's eyes, which are very seldom seen on these figurines. With tribal-themed apparel and beads, these particular items likely date to sometime prior to 1950 and present at the (EX-MT) to (NM) level.
