Offered is the highly prized 1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Ed Beecher, captain of the Yale football team. This is the very first sports card devoted specifically to a gridiron figure. Unlike the modern collegiate game, the Ivy League dominated the sport in the late 1800s, and fittingly Beecher is depicted on this masterpiece. The offered PSA 5 example has bright color, mild corner wear and excellent centering. The checklist reverse, the first of its kind on a football card, is clearly legible and clean.
